Electapres.com Gen. Clark Vouches for Clinton in New Ad

Associated Press via NYT

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark: ''I see that Hillary's opponents have started attacking her. That's politics. What this country needs is leadership. I'm Wes Clark. I commanded our forces in Europe when we won the fight to halt ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. I've known Hillary Clinton for 24 years. I know she has what it takes to end the war in Iraq, avert war with Iran and restore our country's standing in the world. These are tough times and Hillary Clinton is the right choice for America.''

Electapres.com Wesley Clark Endorses Hillary Clinton

Associated Press via NYT

NEW YORK (AP) -- Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton was endorsed Saturday by retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who sought the party's nomination in 2004 and whose sterling military credentials could bolster her bid to be the first female commander in chief.

Clark, the former supreme allied commander of NATO, praised the New York senator as ''a remarkable person'' with the skills and experience to be president.

''She will be a great leader for the United States of America and a great commander in chief for the men and women in uniform,'' Clark told reporters in a conference call with the former first lady.

Clinton welcomed Clark's endorsement as a ''real sign of confidence'' in her ability to lead the military as president. ''He and I have been friends for 25 years, and I am deeply admiring of his leadership,'' she said.

Electapres.com Clark reacts to Lieberman's hawkish stance on Iran

Press release:

After wrongly supporting George W. Bush's strategic blunder of attacking Iraq, and continuing to support Bush's failed policies after the invasion, Senator Joe Lieberman made irresponsible comments this weekend regarding military action against Iran.

On CBS's Face the Nation, Lieberman said, "If [the Iranians] don't play by the rules, we've got to use our force, and to me, that would include taking military action to stop them from doing what they're doing."

This type of "tough-talk" by the Bush Administration and folks like Senator Joe Lieberman is why VoteVets.org and I collaborated to create StopIranWar.com, calling for heavy diplomatic, economic, and political action to discourage the acquisition of nuclear capabilities by the Iranian government.

Electapres.com Wes Clark plays field as '08 hopes fade

The Politico

As of Feb. 2, retired Gen. Wesley Clark seemed to be running for president.

"I think we need a president who understands that to project strength and earn respect is to be strong and show respect," he told the Democratic National Committee's Winter Meeting. The meeting was a cattle call at which he spoke along with nine other Democrats who were all actually running, and Clark did seem to be talking about himself.

But in the months since then, any sense of momentum behind his still-undeclared candidacy has seemed to vanish without a trace.

Electapres.com Could Clark be Politico's "Hillary in pants'?

By Peter Bakke, Editor

Politico's recent article, "Dem field missing 'Hillary Clinton in pants'", highlights the "hole on the right side of the Democratic primary" and addresses the 'electability' problem of the Democratic field, calling it too homogeneous - a mixture of the left and center, but lacking credentials from the right.

Remember General Wesley Clark? One wonders why the decorated General, a southern Democrat from Arkansas, no less, has been absent from the primary race. Democrats have suffered the slings and arrows of being called soft on defense and terrorism (is there a difference?). Why not enlist Clark, a four-star general, valedictorian of his class at West Point and a Rhodes Scholar? And, we might add, he is a man of the right by virtue of his military credentials.

There are some Vietnam veterans in the current crop of candidates, but no 4-star generals, Democratic or Republican. It might be worthwhile in this age of GWOT (the Global War on Terrorism) to have a smart, articulate West Pointer inject his ideas and expertise into the long war that is this presidential primary season.

Electapres.com A warning to Iran

The Washington Times has the story.

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark is concerned by Iran's nuclear ambitions and cautioned the Islamic republic to take U.S. warnings "very, very seriously."

In a private conversation with this reporter, the former warrior-turned-politician at the same time admitted being worried by the Bush administration's strong-arm policies in the Middle East.

Electapres.com General Salutes 'Clinton-Clark' Ticket

ABC News has the story.

ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: On the same day that he was the only Democrat allowed to speak to members of the Democratic National Committee without making his 2008 intentions known, Gen. Wesley Clark raised speculation as to whether he is angling to be Sen. Hillary Clinton's, D-N.Y., running mate.

"I'm a great admirer of Senator Clinton. I think she's terrific," Clark told ABC News with a sly smile when asked if he shared a former aide's assessment that "a Clinton-Clark ticket has a nice ring to it."

Electapres.com Clark: Stay the Course (Not)

Press Release:

The new Iraq plan that George Bush unveiled this month can be boiled down to three words: "Stay the Course."

The President's proposed escalation of troops does nothing to change his failed strategy. Without the "carrots and sticks" that could be used in an all-out political and diplomatic effort throughout the region, the 21,500 American troops that President Bush wants to send into this cauldron of violence are unlikely to prove decisive, while risking the lives of U.S. forces as well as further alienation of the Iraqi population.

Electapres.com Wes Clark Leading on Iraq

Press release from the Clark organization:

From the beginning, Wes Clark has been right about Iraq. As he stated before the House Armed Services Committee before the Iraq invasion, Iraq was not an imminent threat. A military conflict in Iraq would distract us from our primary goal of capturing Osama Bin Laden and defeating Al Qaeda. The last four years have proven General Clark to be right over and over again.

Electapres.com Stop Bush's Iraq Surge

Press Release from Wes Clark:

We must stop George Bush's Iraq surge. Without changing the strategy, this is simply a continuation of "stay the course."

We cannot support the increase in troops unless George Bush disavows the NeoCon strategy and presents a new strategy. George Bush has been using the troops for the past four years trying to divide the country between those who support the war and those who do not.

Electapres.com Clark: Early birds get the worm

Via AP at Boston.com: Clark says he wants to avoid jumping into '08 campaign too late

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark said Tuesday he doesn't have a timeline to decide whether to run for president again, but the former NATO commander said he wants to avoid waiting too late -- a mistake he says he made in his failed 2004 bid.

"I think it was clear that I got in too late last time," Clark told The Associated Press in an interview.

Translation: Get into the fight before all the other 2008'ers snatch up activists, consultants, pollsters and big donors.
